Maria Lucille Saddler was born and raised in Atlanta, Georgia. 

At a young age, she demonstrated a deep love for the outdoors and animals, and was encouraged to become a veterinarian. Maria was very academically inclined in her youth, citing history, literature, and science as her favorite subjects. She participates in various activities but especially enjoyed sports such as tennis, swimming, and running cross country. She received her undergraduate education at Tuskegee University in Animal Sciences, and she went on to earn her Doctorate of Veterinarian Medicine from Tuskegee University College of Veterinarian Medicine, graduating with honors. Dr. Lucille Saddler recently completed a small animal rotating internship at Purdue University (Boiler UP!) Veterinary Teaching Hospital.  Her interests include cardiology, emergency/critical care, and soft tissue surgery. She has 3 pets: 2 dogs, AshLynn & Bullet; and 1 cat, named Ghost.  Dr. Lucille Saddler loves to cook & eat; her favorite meal is her Grandmother’s Beef Roast recipe. She also loves to read; her favorite books are the Bible and My Side of the Mountain by Jean Craighead George.
